For a airbrush pushing down releases air and pulling back releases paint and to clean you can use wd40 to keep the paint from sticking and keeps the parts loose so the don't stiff up and try not to break the point of the needle or it won't release paint I build models and I'm only 14 and to use a airbrush its better if you use both hands to keep it steady and move your full arm not your wrist or you won't get a straint line the closer you get the thinner the line is and the farther it is the more cloud like it would be and if you want a straight line dont pull it back all the way it will clump up and isopropyl alcohol helps clean it out hopes that helps I learned the needle part the hard way

You can use spare sheets to get a clean line finish by placing it against a straight line, for example cube, stencils go hard wit air brush.
