Yeah its been around since the ancient days of sculptures which was equivalent to our Photos n Pictures of photography we use to capture moments in time so it will be forever as a reminder of the person, place, thing that was photo graphed, video recorded, n even ancient sculptures.

This reconstruction of sculls is also used in crime scenes when the bones of a murder victim is found, however, usually they know the race beforehand.
If they assume without verifying the race, that is how it will appear.
Nose and lips have no bone.

It is amazing that they say Egyptians do not look like their busts and that they took liberties and ignore even the basic anatomy of the busts, but they don't make those same claims about ancient Greek, Roman, or even British portraits. That art is a more "accurate" reflection of their respective subjects.
