This is one of my favorite pilot hero stories. He did an incredible job Landing that plane safely with the nose gear in that position and saving ALL in board!

My landlord is a friend of the pilot that flew of this plane. The pilot was flying a Airbus 320 trying to land in Las Vegas, when the system was saying there was a landing gear warning. You are correct. The pilot did cut power to safely land the plane. After a few safety checks and replacement of the front landing gear..plane was back in the air.

Saw this play out live on the news when it occurred. The media kept showing the sideways landing gear as it circled the airfield prior to the landing.
It was a nail biter, to say the least.
I remember cheering the landing and immediately shedding a tear of joy, realizing I just witnessed true heroic action by the pilot and crew.

JetBlue should give that pilot a big bonus, he/she not only saved an entire plane (minus the front landing gear) and lawsuits for them. They can remove the damaged front landing gear and they still have a fully functioning plane in less than a week's time.

I am simply amazed at how strong that nose gear actually is. You would expect that the forces being applied would shear it like a twig. Kudos to the team that designed and built that gear.
