Am I the only one where coffee doesn’t make me go to the bathroom?

I had intussusception 4 times, and had to have a full gastroectomy, my entire large intestine removed, and 90% of my small intestines. I haven't eaten since July 2nd 2014. Seriously, I have experienced countless pain, including actual torture. The worst pain without question was from severe constipation. The only way to mellow the pain is getting the pressure lowered, basically evacuating the blockage. My intestines tied themselves into knots a few times. When you add that to a ton of opiates into your system, and a lack of eating, and since you then only have a bowel movement once every 4 to 5 weeks and the muscles experience atrophy it is absolutely the most painful thing you may experience. They had to surgically remove the blockage several times. Since I don't eat, and that means I don't produce much excrement I only have a bowel movement every 6 weeks roughly. Many people are curious when they find out I don't eat, and have had most of my digestive tract surgically removed they always tend to be curious about bowel movements but don't ask because they try to be respectful, and don't feel it is a appropriate or offensive question. I don't get offended also I would be curious If I didn't know. I drink tons of coffee but I absorb extremely little orally and something like a milkshake is too thick generally and will make me sick. I don't actually get hungry or miss eating. The only thing I miss is the social interactions. People feel uncomfortable inviting you to lunch or dinner since you don't eat. The majority of human interactions center around food and eating. I still like going to restaurants. I also cook very regularly, even though I don't eat. I always enjoyed cooking. Going to Restaurants with friends or family is much more than just about food or eating. These social interactions are enjoyable to someone even when not eating. Also no it wasn't anything to do with weight loss surgery. I am 6'2" and got down to 116lbs. I was a walking skeleton. My pants were size 28in waist, 38in length. I couldn't have had a smaller waist that was the smallest possible without bone removal. It took awhile to dial in my IV nutrition formula, and I was in hospice expected to be dead within a week or two, and by some miracle or perhaps curse I survived. Seriously extreme constipation isn't relieved by medications only getting it out will bring relief, and it was worse pain then anything else by far.

You know why also drinking coffee mixed with bananas, honey, and salt is because like eating too much bananas lead to gastrointestinal issues which leads to diarrhea.

Haha. Funny this pops up now for me because I had a very ripe leftover banana a few days ago and i taught "man this will probably blend well with a coffee. I never tried that before". It was amazing in many ways :D

Probably because decaf is more like deflavoured than decaffeinated, and the water method barely reduces the caffein, while the solution method adds that lovely chemical smell and flavour, while only reducing the caffein by a bare margin over the water method.

Maybe it's the sense for people that the taste is associated with the actual caffein levels?

My high school teacher had a really odd story related to this. So he had a friend who drank coffee every morning but he was sick of running to the washroom on the job so he held in his β€œmovement” until he drank his coffee for a while and after a bit he was running to the washroom whenever he had a sip of coffee. It was something about training your body but idk what the moral of the story is anymore

A coffee and a cigarette never fails lol. A fat blunt will do it, too. Sorry doc! I know you wouldn't recommend such things...but they work!

I guess this is why my mornings are always β€œregular” and β€œideal” (predictable, never diarrhoea or constipation).

I have a cup of coffee, a banana and a big red apple for breakfast. That’s not a diet or starvation breakfast, I just like starting my day this way as I don’t have much morning appetite. It keeps me going and I enjoy it.

It actually is the opposite for me. If we have loose motion, we drink coffee with a bit more concentration without adding milk or sugar. That does the work. Having a lot of bananas does help in making bowels loose . This does not mean that eating bananas makes you go to the toilet, just that it helps when having constipation.

ALSO, America has very lax regulations about coffee quality, so we import all the moldy coffee beans that legally can't be sold to other countries. The mold doesn't create any serious health issues, but that contributes to why the effect is so bad here in America.

That’s absurd. Banannas, coffee and honey are normal breakfast foods, often consumed together. Basically everyone would be regularly starting the day with diarrehea if that was the case.
