I mainly use Windows but I gave Linux a really good try a couple of years ago. There was a lot that I liked about it BUT the lack of official support for a lot of apps made it less than ideal. Don't get me wrong, the operating system is quite fast and reliable and using repositories to install apps was amazing. But as much as I like open source software the reality is there are still some closed source apps that I use that I can't use with Linux. And the average user (my friends and family) are never going to take time to figure out how to "sudo Pacman" an app, even if it's an amazing way to get all your apps.

I recently tried linux dual booting windows and linux just for fun, went to linux mint and it was fun for me, didnt use the terminal for anything but installing apps and unziping files, it was really easy and fun. I'm now trying out arch linux because i wanted to do more terminal stuff and experiment. For me atleast i have no problems at all and completely removed linux since basically everything i use works in linux.
Minecraft java
Terraria
Stardew valley
Sekiro
Elden ring
All my coding stuff... It all works flawlessly for me on linux and so far im enjoying it but i also 100% understand why linux isn't for everyone tho!

remember: you can ALWAYS dualboot
why no one isn't talking about dualbooting???????????
it's sooo easy, you just shrink the windows partition (the hardest part) and then do the installation on a different partition,it depends on which distro you want to install bjt for the most new friendly distros there will be sn option to install alongside windows or it will let you select the empty partition

And without people trying something new or not porting those apps to Linux, Windows will remain the dominant Operating system and they will most likely install more spyware, bloatware and ads, causing laptops and computers from 5 years ago to become laggier and laggier, which will eventually force older hardware to have to be on Linux.

it's not about linux not supporting apps and games, it's about the developers of the apps/games who don't provide native support for linux
