My parents are both doctors, but they are also Christian. All of my friends and my gf are Christian. I completely respect people's beliefs. They use faith to fill in the gaps that science can't yet give answers for, and that is their choice. But if you disregard proven scientific fact, then you aren't just believing in God because you choose to have faith. You are blatently ignoring evidence because of blind biased ignorance.
Humans come from a scientifically proven ancestory where animals eventually evolved more and more advanced cognative abilities by increasing neural pathways and total neurons. Which can be tracked through the DNA of every species on earth that we have discovered.
If evolution didn't prove that animals can gain intelligence over time, then dolphins wouldn't be second to humans, and crows wouldn't know how to use tools.
