what to do in your 40's as a woman to lose fat
1. Not dieting all year round
Spending most of your time in maintenance, learn balance in maintenance and work on your daily habits in maintenance. If you can master maintenance, you'll be successful in your next fat loss phase.
2. Prioritizing protein at every meal.
Minimum 30-35g of protein/meal. Protein is a building block to preserve & build muscle. Plus having more protein will help you stay full. Check my full day of eating videos for high protein meal ideas.
3. Hit a daily step goal. Make it a non-negotiable. 8-10K steps a day. Break down your walk to 3 mini walks if not possible in one shot. 10 minutes after breakfast, lunch and dinner.
4. Prioritize strength training.
At this age you want to lose fat not "weight" and you want to maintain a healthy aging body. This means you need more muscle on your frame.
5. Watch out for alcohol intake.
Eliminate or at least cut back on. Alcohol takes away more than it gives. Alcohol shouldn't be part of your daily diet. When alcohol is consumed, the body prioritizes metabolizing it over other nutrients, including fat. This means that fat burning is temporarily halted while the body processes the alcohol.
