Accurate statements. I definitely fell down the ultralight rabbit hole a couple years ago and now have a base weight of under 9lbs for the three seasons. Now in the winter Ultralight goes out the window. I will say I definitely relaxed my weight weenie mentality in time and realized I don't need to stick to some arbitrary pack weight to wear the mask of an ultralight backpacker. Take the Aeropress, and dare i say even a camp chair if your heart wills it
I like pushing big miles for fun, but i will say even in that regard I relaxed my summit fever mentality. It truly is about the journey, not the destination. Its all a growing process.

For me. I come from the hunting side. I want to be as light as possible just to save me pain but I don't sacrifice quality for weight. When I say "as light as possible" it means I'll probably go in with only the clothes on me. Extra socks and unders, maybe a sweater. I'll go in with minimal food almost banking on harvesting or possible being hungry. Bring only what I HAVE to have no extra bs. Only what absolutely necessary. And like some things I will pay attention to weight like I'm not taking my heaviest rifle. I'll take water purification stuff over more water. But I'm going going out with only a misqito net and a sheet for sleeping.

I train strength so i can bring some extra creature comferts. Every winter i bring a sled to a site by a lake with a woodstove. It takes me 4 hours to make a 2 mile trip, but then i apend a week alone in paradise.
