I’ve done both. I personally like Local because ain’t nothing like being home everyday and 2 consecutive days off. And still making good money. I love it. Plus I have a Fiancé.

I think it comes down to what you’re trying to accomplish. Otr is great if you trying to dig yourself out of a financial hole while eliminating bills, you’re single, ok with the instability of being paid by the mile, run away from your old life, travel the country, etc… i ran regional otr, fixed my credit, saved a lil money, now i run local, make more money, but i spend a lot of money, feel like i work way harder, long days, feel like im still at work more than at home, always tired, and my backing has gotten 90% better. 🥴

I've done both over 10 years. Local oddly pays better but dictates your every move by people who have never sat inside a truck. Sysco won't even allow you to talk to your passenger/coworker via camera watch at all times.

Otr not paying anymore then a local job
If you want to save up money on rent and bills do otr stack the money then find a local job. Average over the road and local you’re looking at 1500 a week. The only way you’re getting more is staying with that company.
The other option is lease purchase and 98% is rip offs if you can find a good one if you do the math your almost pulling what a company driver is pulling so not worth it

Never been or going OTR….. i don’t find driving 10-11 hrs a day then scrambling for a place to park and when to take a shower and eat appealing at all 😅

OTR or Local depends on an individual situation. There is no one size fits all, I personally can’t ride for hours on in, sleep in trucks, 💩 anywhere etc. 😂 Also, I love spending time with my kids

My son is 9 I’m staying local until he’s grown then imma go OTR for 6months-1 year to buy a dump truck then house

Its 2024, unless you have issues at home you can make as much or even more doing local. Especially if you work for a union trucking company. Why do a crap ton more work for less pay per hour driving a company truck.

I use to make 1,800 OTR! As a hazmat when i did local at night i was maken 2,989 clean every single week ZERO HARRASMENT BY DOT zero weight station and in fact i bought a transit van stoped insurance and park in my job parking lot behind the building for 15 years here in usa and i already have 890K clean in the bank after taxes cash still working, locally you get more opportunities overtime and when ppl quit even better.
Also my only bills are 20$/70$/150$
