Would love to see the 230hp MR-Heavy vs 192hp MR-Light battle

Might be fun to experiment with running a restrictor and less weight to see if theres a performance/feel change.

Enjoying the channel guys. Pro tip, especially if you have an awkwardly shaped foot well or space where the ballast needs to go, casting lead shot in cement is usually denser, allows you to maintain a lower center of gravity, and doesn’t take up as much space. You can make it modular as well, based on how you cast the shape, so that you can remove ballast for a heavier driver.

Also, sometimes it’s advantageous to do the opposite, i.e. detune the engine (rather than add weight). You can often take advantage of low end power and torque of the big motor while only sacrificing top end horsepower number. This arrangement is usually best for tighter, twistier tracks.

On the flipside, adding ballast and maintaining full power delivery is good for faster tracks.

This is why 2zzge swap is popular in these rule set races.

Wouldn't the increased momentum of of having a heavy vehicle be worse than having a lighter vehicle with the same ratio?

On the brightside, you get to pick where the weight goes 👍

Wouldn't lightness with less HP put less wear on your tires/suspension/drive train?

I hope you have a real solid way to keep those weights on the pipe, if you roll, that’s 290 lbs of projectiles pinballing around in your cab

more horsepower makes you accelerate faster, lighter weight makes you better everywhere.

Wanted to see more of the mrs... loved the widebody.. once it was painted.. would've been a sick car.

Put 40lbs of plates under my seat and then you can take me instead! I get a fun ride, and you get a ballast who can lean to the inside and go "Wheeeee!"

After all those cool explanations, but still the car's too light 😂

the extra weight can be used to counter balance the weight distribution.

Might be better to restrict the power rather then to weigh it down, that car will feel like an SUV in the track with all that weight… lighter car will feel better and be more agile, also there’s no way you’ll distribute that weight good enough to keep the car balance while under load. Just my take tho I’m not a professional 😅🤝

Adding weight is an advantage up to the point you have perfect weight distribution. Once weight distribution is established I'd be dropping HP because any additional weight penalises cornering traction, acceleration and braking effectiveness.

Get to keep the higher torque might help overall.

Could use the weight and also restrict airflow to make-up for the loss. Get real tricky and make a sniffer by loosening the air intake under the restrictor plate and loosening the rear engine mount to make it lean back a bit on a hard throttle ;)

Could have just mounted Dave Batista in it 😂

With the right weight placement, you could lower the center of gravity. I wouldnt say it would make it better than the light car, but it would likely make it a weapon in the right hands
