🚶‍♂️As children get bigger, how do we make sure that we’re maintaining their safety when riding in a car?

➡️ According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, children should stay in the rear facing position for as long as possible. This is the position that provides the most protection in the event of a crash.

Young children have bones and connective tissues that are less developed and are, therefore, at greater risk of injury.

‼️In fact, there is the possibility of something called internal decapitation when a young child is facing forward in a car seat. This is a condition where the neck internally breaks away from the skull with only ligaments and muscles to hold it together. Often this is fatal, but even when it is not, it can cause severe neurological problems.

🌟 So, the best way to prevent this is to keep the child facing rear for as long as possible which will cradle their delicate neck and spinal cord. Many parents keep children rear facing until the age of 4, or until they MAX out the rear facing limits.

👉 Once, children have outgrown the rear-facing position and begin to face forward, it is recommended that they use a harness for as long as possible.
