Honestly, i just hate the idea of the NCR being gone because we spent 2 games helping to create it and was basically the hope of restoring the old world.
But nope, we must keep the status quo of wasteland and post apoplectic world, so we have to reset the playerfield.
It just makes me not care anymore because its clear they won't let the setting evolve, so whats the point of caring

What I'm more concerned about is Todd Howard's very apparent bias towards New Vegas. It's possible that they made some contrivance to have the NCR be absent. Which isn't a retcon, but still not really that good.

In other words, while it isnt entirely stated that they retconned new vegas, they are getting close to saying it, and thus we are all keeping a close eye on its next move

My theory is that this was them both canonising the lonesome road dlc ending ware the courier blows up the ncr and caesers legion and also adding to it by suggesting the courier also found another silo or another missile was present and blew up shady sands as well with it

Creetosis gang have already uploaded reviews of first four episodes so yes. Althought we didnt get to the biggest retcons yet even the early episodes retconned stuff. So its pretty bad show from fallout enjoyer standpoint and meh from non fan pov

I just assumed that the NCR survived the fall of their capital... there were clearly survivors, and even a major city falling wouldn't necessarily dictate the absolute dissolution of the faction. But I'm not weighing in quite yet lol.
Edit: and the NCR has languished slowly over the last couple of decades because that's what happens to factions in the wasteland. Their remnants exist but they don't have the same level of power they once did.

Big problem is that Bethesda only sees the apocalypse part of post-apocalypse when the post part is actually more important.
