Dr. Mindy Mar is a board certified animal chiropractor and working on obtaining her certified canine rehabilitation practitioner degree work in several vet offices in San Diego. She demonstrates how to perform weight shifting exercises/prehab on a Chihuahua with a partially torn CCL (equivalent to an ACL in human knee). Photobiomodulation (therapeutic laser), chiropractic care, bed resting at home and NSAIDs to help this dog’s stifle/knee ligament heal in effort to avoid surgery.

Dogs tend to tear their CCL because of degenerative arthritis in the stifle/knee… versus humans who tend to tear their ACL from a planting/twisting movement. Early conservative care intervention by means of physical rehabilitation can help support neuromuscular function & slow down the degenerative disease that is often caused by subluxated patella in dogs.
