Ofcourse it helps. But you forget another very important factor. And that is your reel. A lot of reels just have a horrible line lay just because the spool goes up and down much to fast.
I use a Shimano reel which has an almost "slow motion" spool movement. This gives a super line lay and has brought me at least 15-20 metres extra.
But so or so. The soaking of the line is another very useful chapter.
Greetings from the Čech Republic 🇨

I have never used this method just cold water straight out the pack .but I never fish over 50/60 yards .I'll try next year when I reline my reels .cheers matt

Hi Matt, correction on the subtitles but I think you said it right, the term is "Hygroscopic" one that caught me out in my college exams it was a multiple choice question about DOT 4 brake fluid believe it or not!

Never left me

I've soaked all my lines and respooled the spools....2 rods were wacked into the horizon, and the rod that cought 80% of the fish was in the margins and probably 20 yards to the side ......Damn

I used to but just put it in warm water for a couple of hours now. I don't with thinner line though, ie 5/6lb float line as it seems to go on ok without soaking.

What about when you not using it?
Have you got soggy spool cases or summit?

When you cast two-three times it's the same.

Just take it out of the packed or leave it in the tin whatever it is just check it fall off the supply spool from lable side without any twist or if there is a twist in the line has it falls from the spool just turn the spool of line from the lable to then fall off yet again this time without any twist one way or another u will get no twist yes there’s always another way like putting a pencil through the middle of the spool but can u do that by yourself it’s possible this is as simple as it gets u r only filling up your new line onto a reel perfect just keep out any twist it’s machined on one way so comes off one other way just get it right don’t worry just make it work and check it it’s that easy line on line off no twist u can correct me if u donut agree there’s no twist no problem easy just watch it fall from the lable without a twist then get it on directly 👍🌅

I think the quality of reel and line dictate the line lay and casting, way more than weather or not you soak the line. Bare in mind it dies out quickly.😂

My method is little bit faster, I spool a reel using hot water while spooling, without soaking over night, dont know if I lose extra benefit non soaking line

How do you service Shamano 14000.

Do you put the line spool a certain way round when spooling? I remember watching a video/program a long time ago about it going on the reel better if it's a certain way round, less chance of it twisting.
