The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is a way of describing language ability and is often used to help language learners choose learning materials and courses at the right level.

The CEFR has six levels, from A1 for beginners, up to C2 for users who are proficient in the language.

A1-A2 (Beginner-Elementary): Can understand and use familiar everyday expressions and basic phrases. Can introduce themselves and ask/answer simple questions.

B1 (Intermediate): At intermediate level, learners can handle everyday topics and travel situations. Can write simple texts and share personal experiences.

B2 (Upper Intermediate): Learners who achieve B1 Intermediate level can understand complex texts and discuss a range of topics fluently. Can write clear, detailed texts on various subjects.

C1 (Advanced): C1-level learners can understand a wide range of long, complex texts. They can interact and express themselves fluently and spontaneously and use language flexibly and effectively in social, academic and professional situations.

C2 (Proficiency): Learners with a C1 level in English can easily understand almost everything they hear or read. They can express themselves fluently and spontaneously with precision in complex situations.
