She should write him a letter with a picture of his kid and explain that she isn't asking anything from him. No child support or anything, she just wants to let him know. If he says he wants to meet her, she needs to explain that she will not let him come and go. So the first time he leaves he's done. He deserves the knowledge and chance but doesn't deserve to screw up his kid.

I dunno. The fact he blocked her on everything and all but one friend excommunicated her and that he ran from her when he saw her makes me feel like there's a hell of a lot in this story she left out. I could be wrong though. People get weirdly petty about relationships.

She's an AH because as a 41 year old who is dealing with the secrets coming out of the closet. It's traumatic because by the time I learned the truth my father was already dead. Don't hurt your daughter that way.

The friend's advice may have seemed more sensitive at the time but now the circonstances are differents (for my part I would still have told him from the beggining even if it's scary).
It isn't too late to see the guy and tell him that the girl is his but that he isn't obligated to be in the child's life if he doesn't want to.

I agree with you. She should have told him when she was pregnant.
At this point, I dont think she should tell him. Custody and all that can get complicated, but the fact he has another kid he's abandoned... It's not worth the stress and drama. Her daughter has a father who has stepped up.

I might be biased but coming from a kid who knows their dead beat toxic father..............I wish I didn't. And watching my friends daughter get disappointed over and over again by her dad who acts like she's an inconvenience, idk I think her mental health would be better without him I the picture. Children can live normal fulfilled lives with one parent. Now I do think that he should be given a chance at the very least and then after that go to court I think it should be done the right way so she's still an AH I just think my reason might be different?

Hang on... between the 3 parts 1) he blocks her after they breakup due to ling distance. Other friends drift apart because graduation. 2) the one friend says don't tell him because he is raising his siblings? And in 3, she blames him for him, not wanting to be the father, but he doesn't even know about her??? That isn't fair, nor is it right. Op is definitely an ahole.

She not only denied her baby daddy the right to know his daughter but also denied her daughter to know her bio dad.
Not to mention that’s it’s 🤬 like this that causes men to be mistrustful of women. Meaning that you’ve made everything worse for women across the world. Especially since it’s online where men can point and say this is why women etr, etr, etr. (I don’t think I need to be detailed there.)
The worst part though is not only is this going to make it harder for women across the world. It will also make it harder for little girls who will grow to be a woman one day.
Hopefully her daughters future isn’t entirely ruined.
But… actions have consequences and sometimes a mere flap of a butterfly’s wings can create a hurricane elsewhere.😞

NTA he blocked and made it clear he wanted nothing to do with OP. She accepted his decision. Years later he has a kid of his own and he can’t even think to take care of them? If he can’t even be a good dad to his other child what makes him or anyone think that he could be a good father to Op’s daughter? That little girl already has a father who loves her as his daughter which is OP’s husband.
