Iāve got a 1 year old pitbull at home, sweetest dog ever incredibly friendly and feisty girl and she likes to play rough, Iāve got 2 issues with social interactions with her 1. sheās very uncomfortable around big groups of dogs especially if they surround her, immediately her tails in between her legs or she flops on to her back to show sheās not a threat 2. because sheās a rough player she doesnāt exactly know boundaries when it comes to playing with puppies (specifically I donāt have this problem with older dogs) and can be over bearing with them, how would I try to improve her confidence in a large group and have her ease up on play with puppies

My dog was harassed a lot as a young pup he became reactive, heās a big dog (34kg) and I struggled to keep him under control he wrestled so hard with me trying to get to other dogs - I walked him for years at 5 am before other dogs got up I avoided anyone we saw but I realised this was just avoiding the problem and dealt with it head on.Heās 9 now and still does not want to interact with other dogs but he doesnāt try to kill them now but it doesnāt go away ever - because other people let their dogs bother him and we can still have issues if this happens. We can walk past dogs - he is fine he nudges my hand to remind me heās been good and he gets a treat but oh the dogs that have harassed us over the years - off lead friendly dogs whoās owners think Iām so rude because I tell them to get their dogs away from mine - but heās only saying hello they say as their dog is trying to mount mine Grrrr ! I will always bear the responsibility of owning a re active dog but please if you care about your dog listen to this man because some dogs are social butterflies but some are not - if you donāt understand this you are walking your dog blindly into danger - I had one man try to send his dog back to mine because I told it to sod off ( he didnāt like that) because my dog was starting to get upset whilst he did nothing to recall his dog and I told him he clearly didnāt care about his dog sending his little spaniel towards my very big angry dog- I actually loosened my dogs lead a little - the man almost shit his pants when he thought I was going to let my dog get his - I hate this I just want to walk my dog without other dogs harassing us ! I love dogs and have always owned one -I wonāt be getting another because I am tired of dog owners with no clue of the impact their friendly dog can have on a dog that doesnāt want their high energy and attention - !

I had a dog that didn't like other dogs much. He was safe around other dogs he just didn't want to play with other dogs outside of our home. I had 3 dogs at the time he'd play with his house mates but around other dogs he'd just hang back and let the other 2 dogs play. I just let him do his thing I felt I don't like everyone why should I expect him to. I just only brought him to one friends house with 2 dogs and the 4 dogs would play and my 1 would sit and enjoy being outside watching them

I have a pup, year and a half, and I've only ever seen him "like" and play with one other dog that isn't in the same household. He likes to greet and say hello but then he doesn't care if they continue to exist or disappear off the face of the earth. So long as the dog isn't acting aggressively towards the other dogs, I don't see why people have such problems but I know it happens and makes me a bit sad.
