I keep a glowing jar of fungus next to my bed. This species "P. stipticus" was known as foxfire and has been known to light up forests throughout most of the world thanks to it's beautiful green glow. And today I'll show how to make one of these lanterns.

It's all fun and games until you wake up to a broken jar & clicking coming from the next room

Keeping it in a jar is a pretty good idea if you don't have mush-room

If you don't get tired, how do you fall asleep?

I used to have a wooden log inside an open glass vase next to my bed as a nightlight. The Panellus stipticus I put in the wooden log made really nice fruiting bodies all over until all of the log was covered in glowing mushrooms. Was pretty cool.

I'm pretty sure I've seen this in the wild. I never realized I wasn't hallucinating (lost in the woods over a weekend) Green glowing rhizomes

Nice! Easier to take care of than fireflies... or even bioluminescent dinoflagellates, I guess... Weak but constant glow!

this is so awesome. I've always wanted to inoculate some logs with glowing mushrooms & have them all over my yard.

I absolutely love growing fungus/mushrooms! In the beginning it was soooo difficult to keep things sterile, which is very frustrating. Once u get the hang of it the fruit bodies will start popping up everywhere! It's a very rewarding microscopic hobby! Self-taught Mycology Journeyman✌🏼
