stock frame can also bend ur cpu when it super hot ,as metal IHS weaker in high temp n 12th gen cpu is rectangular n pressure applied in middle by stock frame in long term heavy use.

My i9 14900k was running at around 35c idle before the contact frame. Now with the contact frame it runs at 20 - 25c. I've even seen it dip below 20c - no kidding! 15 degrees difference before and after is insane. This should be the standard for all mobo's.

No, it’s not because it wobbles a lot, it’s because the stock intel mounting brackets put all the pressure on one side, instead of both.

Tried installing Thermalright one and it just made my life hell. The ram started having problems, people would tell me to tighten it, loosen it, find that sweet spot and all that crud. In the end my supply of thermal paste runs out trying to find that sweet spot where ram doesn't mess itself up and I used the last bits of paste to just return the ILM. RAM problems resolved. Never messing with the ILM again.

Cools my 14900k like a charm. Never seen above 79c when under load for hours

Tbh intel stock coolers are not great as well. I had one and it would not mount at all. Barely mounted it after hours and tons of pushing, pressing it down that I dont know how my mobo survived. Changed to contact frame + new cooler and Im seeing 15-20 C lower temps. Its a must buy.

Ive got to RMA my i9 14900k due to intel issues, but never had issues with temps while gaming it sits at between 50-70c depending on load. Only thing putting me of a frame is it voids motherboard warranties

And this is why I stick with my I7-3770K LOL. Not really, but I did resist the temptation of buying a MinisForum MS-01 on Prime day. Even with the i5-12600H I have my doubts on buying it.

Do you recommend a specific brand like thermal grizzlys or is the 10 dollar thermaltake contact frame fine?

IF you torque it down correctly. still an issue with contact frames although not nearly as bad. ill also say this: just buy thermal grizzly’s contact frame. best in the business

I just bought one for ~$10 from thermalright. Will it be able to cool a 13700k with a thermalright phantom spirit se effectively??

I USE thermalright Contact frame on my i5 13500 and it work very good 6 degree Celsius temperature improvement. Before contact frame 96c now it's 90c

Though I agree that the stock mechanism is not perfect, there is a legitimate reason why the use of the contact frames are not approved by intel and can potentially void your warranty. Both of the companies Thermal Grizzly and Thermalrite need to improve the mechanism so that it does not need special torque considerations for DIYers.

Would it be possible to boot it without cooler for a few seconds to check for post to not waste time installing cooler and having to redo if not posting
