Editing to add: when I say ā€œa certain type of personā€ Iā€™m talking about extremists. Yall are projecting so hard itā€™s actually wil

Iā€™m putting this out there:
Anyone who responds ā€œwomp wompā€ or similar to violence and atrocities such as these, condones that behavior, therefore IS being violent (because bystanders are as bad as the assailants themselves), and if this platform can be harsh towards people using vulgar language/imagery, or even to those using words like grape and v@gina to spread awareness and educate, it can be equally as harsh towards those condoning and contributing to causing violence.
Report them, do not interact with the post, no comments, likes or dislikes. Donā€™t contribute to them potentially making money from it

The amount of people telling you that you're wrong about being hate crimed is fascinating.

I was living in rural Tennessee in 2016, and the day of the election a woman slammed her grocery cart into my hip and screamed "you probably voted for HILARY!!!" I had on an "I voted," sticker. I called the cops (I was in a grocery store, so this was probably on security cameras, and lots of witnesses) and instead of letting me file a report they harassed me asked what I did to make her hit me!

I genuinely donā€™t want to go to school tomorrow (college). Some girl lost it on me in class today for no reason - nothing about politics but still it has ramped up my anxiety and hypervigilance.

Everyone please check on any unhoused/unsheltered friends you might have, and maybe invite them in for a couple of days if you know them well enough to trust them, especially if they're visibly identifiable as part of a marginalized community. We're always disproportionately susceptible to harassment and violent crime, but during high tension times like this, there's a rise in groups of angry intoxicated people going around looking for targets, and we're among the most vulnerable because we're visible and don't have secure places to go. Plenty of us get attacked without even advertising/being identifiable as affiliated with any particular group or ideology.

And I'm NOT saying anyone inclined toward vigilantism should go around looking for trouble ... buuuut if you're inclined to go around looking for, let's say, opportunities to protect others, you sure are more likely to find those opportunities by lurking near where unhoused people hang out in your area.

Im really scared of what happens with this election, and the staye of the country in general. Im LGBTQ+, but I have two teenagers who are as well. I just hope it all turns out ok, I guess. šŸ˜¢

I wish everyone safety. Some people really see the election going the way they want as more important than the welfare of the people around them or the humanity of people around them rather than a tool to PROTECT people's welfare and humanity. It's sick and saddening. It doesn't matter what party you're on, hearing about people ASSAULTING people over an election is horrifying, disgusting, and inexcusable.

My father called me last night to tell me to stay inside and to have self defense with me when i have to leave because I'm very visibly gay and live right next to a conservative neighborhood. I'm very sorry you and your friends were attacked last election cycle.

I'm so sorry this happened to you and your friends. Im very afraid of what comes next after trump gets elected because my mother is an immigrant, making me an immigrants child. Me and many other people are already harrassed because we arent fully american. (Im german and british, i was born here and so was my father. His family is german and my mothers is fully british.) Im so scared of what will happen to Immigrants families, LGBT folk like myself, abortion rights and so much more problems that i think were all aware of. Our county is deeply divided. I wish we could just behave like humans and not cavemen beating each other up. Why do people HAVE to be hateful?

i live in a place where iā€™ve suffered harassment and bullying at my old school but i also have a lot of lgbtq+ friends and know a lot of supportive people. i feel unsafe in certain places but luckily my parents are supportive and i donā€™t have to deal with bad, ignorant people at school anymore. living in a conservative but not state feels so weird at times

Even if you don't agree with someone's political/religious it NEVER gives you the right to treat others like this. As someone who considered themselves more right leaning and a Christian this makes me sick. So sorry you went through this.
