This is cool and all but hopefully one day we can talk about whether seed oils are even necessary when a person is on a well-planned Whole Food vegan diet. Otherwise it's like who really cares if one is better than the other if neither is necessary. And then even take it a step further to see if there's any heterogeneity requiring an individualized approach.

Seed oils are only "good" by substitution π Replacing bad fats and especially in combination with processed sugars. But compared to the human species specific they are a fra cry apart π The lowering of heart disease and all is only seen compared to the worst fats people can eat. Nothing to do with raw fruit fats and even coconuts. So ... machine oils are still bad. Just better than the worst crap. One should never rat such super processed empty calories "foods". Right

I agree that the anti-seed-oil movement has gone too far and its proponents have their own agenda and conflicts of interest, but I think itβs only fair to acknowledge the truth that in the Minnesota study (and maybe the others too), itβs indisputable that the control diet (high saturated fat, low linoleic acid) had fairly high quantities of trans fat due to the high amount of it in common margarines and shortenings, meaning that even if the margarine used in the intervention diet had some trans fat, it was probably about the same amount as in the control diet, if not even less.
