Correction- instead of paying house early step do down payment saving.

Or take a look at the no money down options, and use some of the money to buy down a point, pay for inspections, closing expenses, and moving, then save the rest for house repairs, appliances, decorating, etc. USDA rural development programs is one option, depending on the area.

I urge people to have an emergency fund of at least 5 years and I'm not kidding. You NEVER know what's going to happen. You and/or you & your spouse may be young & healthy and both making a good living and then boom, one of you gets sick, really sick and can't work. You will lose everything.
