It is so utterly bizarre to hear a Christian leader say “Christ does not want Christian nations.” This sounds like someone who has never grasped the fullness of the Old Testament promises of the messiah. “The coastlands wait for His law” “the nations will stream to Zion” “be warned oh rulers of the earth… kiss the son lest He be angry and you perish in the way” “ask of me and I will give the nations as your inheritance” it’s literally everywhere. What on the literal earth are you afraid of that would make you deny Christ His inheritance?

Many a Christian Nationalist is merely looking for a country that is not explicitly anti-Christian. I’m not so sure that’s a particularly bad thing. The only thing that is to be Christian is the underlying framework. In other words, including the freedoms of speech and assembly and religion, which tend to fall away under secular hegemony. We should probably call it something different, like Judeo-Christian Classical Liberalism…or Non-secular Hegemony. But perhaps it should even be considered part of Christian orthodoxy. It might well be THAT uncontroversial.
