Welcome to episode 1 of my latest series: “Clearing Up Credit Card Confusion”

With each episode I’m diving into a different credit card, telling you the pros / cons and highlighting the fine print they don’t want you to know !

Today we’re starting off with a fan favorite: The Amex Gold Gard.

With a whopping $325 annual fee — do I think this card is right for everyone?

As someone who has actively used this card for the last 3 years — I wouldn’t recommend it to many people.

I enjoy having it, and do use all of the perks / benefits, BUT the main reason this card works for me is because of the 4X points I earn from restaurants and grocery shopping.

The other perks and benefits are great, but the 4X is what makes it worth it for me.

If you are not someone who eats out often, picks up the tab and has everyone Venmo their part, or grocery shop for your family — it is NOT going to be worth it.

There are other cards with more perks or with a lower annual fee that would be a better alternative.
