Here are some things to consider if you want to keep a snake at home: 

Environment

Snakes are wild animals that belong in their natural habitats. Their health is directly related to their environment, so it's important to provide them with the right conditions. 

Enclosure

Snakes need a secure, well-ventilated enclosure called a vivarium that's free of hazards and easy to clean. The enclosure should be made of a solid material that holds heat and has a lid with secure latches or clips to prevent escape. 

Temperature

Some snakes prefer warmer or cooler environments, and some need adequate humidity. You can provide a shelter or cave in both warm and cool areas of the habitat so your snake can choose its preferred temperature. 

Diet

Snakes are carnivorous and eat meat. You can feed your snake frozen rodents that have been thawed, once a week. Some adult snakes may not eat for several weeks at a time. 

Handling

You should handle your snake at least once or twice a week, but no more than once a day. Regular handling helps keep your snake tame and can be a good opportunity for exercise. 

Recognizing you

Snakes can recognize you and can be very loveable. They may use their owners to climb on and wrap around for warmth.
