I love travel packs but I hate that most of them have a laptop compartment, I don't need that and it feels like a waste of space to have that thick padding. I bought the Osprey Fairview 55l, which is a travelpack of 40l (without laptop compartment!) plus a day pack of 15l, and I just leave the day pack at home😅 However, in this travel pack I do miss a place for my water bottle. Can't have everything right

do I have a favorite?? + more thoughts 👇🏼💫
🎒 @matadorequipment Globerider 35L
🎒 @rei Ruckpack 40L
🎒 @cotopaxi Allpa Adventure 50L
Full disclosure - I bought the REI one with my own money last year and used that 8 months abroad and LOVED it (still love it). It is a great bag at a more affordable price point compared to the other two bags. The Matador and Cotopaxi bags were sent to me as gifts with no obligation of posting. I love the design of the Matador one so much that I plan to take that one to Europe with me. I had many requests to review the Cotopaxi one, and I used their original Allpa 35L for 3+ years as my only backpack (until chungi decided to use it as a litterbox one day). Their bags are constructed very well and while I haven’t taken the Adventure 50L on a trip yet, I have packed it and wore it around and felt confident enough in the bag to show it.
Aso - if you already have a backpack that works, use it!! this is just a guide if you’re in the market for one or are looking to make the switch from suitcases to a backpack!!
Okay now for more thoughts...
✨PRICE✨
Yes, these bags are expensive and that’s because they are built to last YEARS (or a lifetime). Having a backpack break, rip, or have a zipper stop working while you’re away for months is not ideal which is why I do believe investing in a higher quality bag is worth it. When you see the bags in person you can tell they are made with durable materials.
✨WATERPROOF✨
The REI Ruckpack comes with a rain shell. The Matador Globerider has waterproof zippers and is made with other waterproof materials but they state the bag as a whole is only water resistant. I have not seen anything about the waterproofness of the Cotopaxi (I would just buy a seperate rain shell)
✨STOWING STRAPS✨
The Matador & Cotopaxi bags can have the shoulder and hip straps tucked away. The REI bag has the zipper cover to stowe them.
✨THEFT PROOF??✨
REI - has lockable zippers
Matador - has theft proof zippers all around
Cotopaxi - only the laptop compartment is theft proof
✨SIZES✨
REI Ruckpack - 18L, 30L, or 40L
Matador Globerider - 35L or 45L
Cotopaxi Adventure - 50L
