In my recent playthrough I collected every chest on the starting island, Havana and Nassau before even buying a single ship upgrade and had around 50K it's not a ton
I also did most assassination missions

A better location for this is in Nassau. It's got boar, rabbits and crocodile all near a lookout point and you don't have to worry about enemies respawning.

idk if your gonna make money fast though. I still think just attacking frigates with a lot of rum and sugar can get you more money, faster. But then again, you still need to some upgrades in order to fight a frigate.
I got like 5k or something in thirty minute
Edit: another method you could use is swimming onto a frigate and killing the crews on the frigate, then blowing it up.

Activate any (health) cheats and defeat the legendary ships if you haven't and then exit the animus, it'll save the game/money you got but the legendary ships will still spawn till you defeat em without any cheats, so you can gain as much money as you want (also if you defeat all of the ships with the cheat on you'll unlock the ram and then you can try it on the legendary ships) and backingup save file(s) is still advisable cause the game might decide to mess up the save files 💀

The best way to make money in AC4 is to go to the top left of the map at the legendary ship icon ( There are 2). At that point destroy 1 of the ships which will grant you 10,000R (Because it is halved , on usual legendary ships would give you 20,000R, but in this manner it is split, same applies to the health of each ship) and then respawn and repeat this cycle however many times. *Note that this is still a legendary ship and requires further adjustments/upgrades on the “Jackdaw” in order to incapacitate the selected vessel.

The best way to make actually is to go to new bone, if you haven't discovered it stop you shop when your 300 meters away and swim to shore. Synchronize the viewpoint and fast travel to it. Go to the man o war and kill every one on board, one you back at your ship, take the wheel and fire a heavy shot. Board the ship, and conplete the easy task, once it goes to the menu where you choose what to do, to either repair your ship send it fleet, etc. Just pick any option, then click the map button really quickly and fast travel back to viewpoint. I really like this method as it gets you cargo and money at the same time. Repeat as many times as you want note: DO NOT SINK THE FRIGATES NEXT TO IT OR THE SHIPS WONT RESPAWN.

You can replay sequence 2 memory 3 and steal from the 3 templars over and over until you have 100000R and then quit to main menu to save it

I remember doing this same glitch on xbox 360 with a fast travel point where you are right next to 2 black jaguars or panthers or whatever they were called, sick game

I found that Naval missions and Convoys are also good sources of money. They take a bit longer but give larger payouts

There is a viewpoint in Tulum, the one on the beach where you can find treasure hidden next to the big three. In that area 3 or two jaguars are spawned. I used that location for farming money when I played the cracked version, it was usefull especially for the elite hull upgrade, since it costs 30 000R.
