Have a 2002 7.3 with 220,000. Not a light on the dash. Simply maintain your truck and it will take care of you too.

Can't have thrown codes if you don't have codes to throw. 40 years old, still going strong. No lights, no dings, no warnings. No bleeps, no sweeps, no creeps. I know I got fuel in the tank, how badly I'm breaking the speed limit (roughly), and whether or not the engine is on fire. And that's all I need to know.

200k is not high for a diesel, our 7.3 has 266K miles for example, diesel last many miles

Your ambient air temp sensor is located in the passenger mirror I believe. The aftermarket mirrors will cause that if you didn't replace it

A buddy of mine has a 1984 12 valve Cummins, itâs rolled over twice in his 10 years of having it, prior to him buying it, it was a farm truck so who knows how many miles it really has and he takes good care of it, in short diesels will last a million miles if taking care of.

As long as the EGR has been removed, I see no reason to avoid buying a high mileage diesel

Learned my lesson the hard way AAT sensor is in one of the mirrors some manufacturers put it in the driver side some in the passenger side. Believe it or not that will not only affect the climate control but you aftertreatment system since it helps set the trim for all the other sensors and can throw that truck in derate. Ask me how I know lol

That is why you get an older truck. Gas or diesel. The OBS Chevy pickups can and will last well over a million miles. My step father had an 88 Chevy C2500. First year of the OBS Chevy. Had a 350 and 700r4. Each rebuilt once. Had over a million miles on it when sold and still running like it was just broken in fresh at around 150,000. No problems except a broken odometer.
