After dividing, when planting, you need to let the rhyzome (brown part) exposed (it needs sun), and the thin roots below earth level. My irises came from a small division, but now the clump is gigantic! Last fall I k8nd of divided aggresively - cut chunkks and replanted. It is doing well. But only because i had a huge chunk. Wouldnt recommend on small chunks.

I found a cutting of a bearded iris on my walk today, by any chance can I propagate from this? I imagine no, but I’m hoping 🤞

I'm just starting to get new growth. Is it ok to divide them in Spring? They haven't been divided in many years.
