Add some color to your fireplace this holiday with a green fire pinecone experiment! Instructions below 👇

What you need:
Isopropyl alcohol, pinecones, small bowl, boric acid, grownup helper

How to make a green fire pinecone:
1. Place your pinecone in a small bowl and pour some isopropyl alcohol over it.
2. Sprinkle boric acid over the pinecone, making sure to get into the nooks and crannies.
3. Add a little bit more isopropyl alcohol over top.
4. Ask your grownup helper to add the pinecone to a fireplace or bonfire and watch it burn green!

What’s going on?
Different elements burn different colors! Here we’re using boric acid (Boron) which burns green. Some other colorful chemical reactions are Sodium, which burns yellow, and Copper, which burns blue!

Just be careful handling boric acid, don't want to get it on your skin, in your eyes, or injest it in any way
