Quietly changed dentists after being hardcore shamed for my chipped front tooth and pressured to get $6k veneers... my first question for the new (local non chain affiliated) dentist was his recommendation, did he think my tooth was a problem. Answer: certainly not for my health, and cosmetically, only if it bothered me. And if it did bother me, a comparatively inexpensive white composite filling was his first thought before trying veneers because those are quite costly. Much more importantly are you drinking enough water every day? Let's talk about building good habits and small attainable ways you can improve.

i think i had the last honest dentist out there. he was my dads friend and always just took care of us for free. I grew up with his kids and thankfully one became a dentist too and i go to her now. If shes ever out of the office and I have to go see one of her partners they always try to tell me I need like 2-6k worth of work done. I always try and wait for her to come back b/c 9/10 times she looks and shes like, no you’re fine or its just this simple thing . Its literally like car mechanics!!! If you dont know someone you may get screwed.

I got an xray at the dentist and he said I had a cavity. I asked if I could get a second opinion on the X-ray and he said no lol. Really do just have to take their word for it.

I AM an automotive mechanic, and last tine i went to the dentist they tried up selling tactics on me! I cancelled them and went back to my childhood dentist. They tell me I'm fine. Shady dentists exist, same thing as shady auto mechanics. Buyer beware!

I've noticed many dentist offices starting to operate similarly to beauty clinics that push patients to undergo various cosmetic procedures.
