You only have to watch social media to know most lakes haven’t switched on yet with reports of blanking everywhere after spawning. I don’t usually fish at all from April until June, then i use big baiting tactics when i do go back . Your lake is coming along nicely 👍

I live in the US and fish (UK-Style tactics, bait, gear…) at small lakes/ponds - where the carp are arguably wild. I've been having a very difficult time this season unlocking the “code” at a local 1.5 acre weedy pond. I know the carp are in there - I see them jumping, and I actually caught my first carp (17lbs. 😮💨👏🙄) a few months ago!!! I just can't seem to find the right hook-bait or ground-bait to trigger bites!
It must be something I’m using/doing wrong, such as: rigs, bait, inexperience (1.5 seasons targeting carp), the lack of carp’s familiarity with the bait I'm using….
I guess I’m a bit stubborn in my committment to catching carp in the UK fashion (as opposed to corn on a hook). I like to think I prefer a challenge😉
