Well, it seems I was wrong about China. Over 90% of their families live in their own home. See on Wikipedia:

That's not true. In China, over 75% of the people own the homes they are living in. But not a single private citizen owns the land on which a home, a company, a factory, or anything else private has been build upon. Or the land they are planting.
