When you compare the two situations, I would argue that Russiaās invasion of Ukraine, shows that if China invaded Taiwan, the United States would not get involved using direct military action.
With the Ukraine conflict, there was no legal obligation for the United States, to send military forces to a non-NATO nation.
The United States avoided direct military action in the Ukraine conflict, to avoid a confrontation between nuclear powers, and that bears a striking resemblance to Taiwan.
The South China Sea, will be next conflict where the United States intervenes with its military, because of legal obligations to the Philippines.

The US would definitely get involved but I think mostly in air and on the see. Taiwan has on of the Largest import and export routes in the world has the most advanced tech industry and there is a pact where the US is required to protect Taiwan at all costs. And what we saw all the years when the conflict nearly escalated the US always send in huge amounts of troops to the region so they definitely get involved
