1080p monitors are cheap, that’s why they are so appealing

PPI matters more than resolution, for monitors if they're smaller than 25" 1080p is fine, for 27" 1440p is fine, anything larger and you should get 4K.

The cutoff for 1080p for TVs is about 40" due to the viewer being farther away from the screen than they are when using a monitor.

1080p is still the most common for PC
In the Steam hardware survey from October, 1080p made up 57% of primary display resolution followed by 1440p with 20%, 4k was only 3.7%

calling 1080p a "low resolution" feels like a crime

What is the best 40 to 50-in TV with 120 HZ for under $200?

Exactly I have a 4k monitor but wouldn’t mind using a 1080p one mostly because I play on 1080p because it gives u the most fps

Used to play on a 46" 1080p & it was perfectly adequate for me.
Don't really see any benefit for 4k when it would all cost me a year of eating when I'm content with current level.
Each to their own.

I have an Asus TUF A15 2023 with a 1080p@144hz monitor and never had the issues these people keep talking about since it's a 15.6" monitor, which means it won't look very pixelated unless you get very close to the monitor.

Honestly i think 1080p still looks amazing as long as the colors are vibrant and its better for my 1070 cause im too poor to upgrade. Once i do get money to upgrade though I want to get a 27" ASUS WQHD OLED monitor.

1080p monitors are cheap, they can look great (there’s a lot more to a good picture than how many pixels) and the refresh rates you can get are crazy

Yeah I personally play on a 120hz 4k TV. I set my computer to be at 1440p because 4K is impossible to push at a reasonable frame rate in most things and, even at 65 inches I can't tell the difference between a 2k and 4k signal

I own a 21.5 inch monitor for secondary. TAA is still way worse than it is on my 27 inch 1440p. Its not all about PPI, without resolution its no use.

I use 1080p because you need a better pc than i have for 1440p anyway

I've found 1440p 80fos to be my sweet spot. At that size, i realized i can't really tell the difference beyond that.

I have a 144hz 1440p monitor with a good machine with a 3070 and i can run everything thus far at the range i want. I'll probably upgrade my gpu next Gen but currently i love the setup.
