This is so needlessly petty imo. The tags have care instructions and information about the material that the items are made of, so that if anything ever happens you know how to properly take care of them. She probably kept the tag because she cares about making sure that everything she owns is properly maintained, not because of some aesthetic thing. It's really weird that he's going out of his way to point out something that he doesn't like when she never said she wanted them on display or anything, just that she wanted them kept.
I'm sure if he communicated, for example, "hey this pillow is kind of uncomfortable to lay on because of the tag, do you mind if I pull it off" like a reasonable person, she would've also been reasonable and went "oh yeah sure just take a picture of the care instructions" or something.
It seems like she ultimately didn't care that much since she told him in the end that he could take them off and was joking around about it, but the whole situation just seems kind of dumb. I don't understand why he didn't just ask why she kept them.

Im gonna be honest, this situation is really funny. If she cared about the tags so much, she could just let him cut them off and she stores them somewhere. If it's about keeping them for the instructions, the tags are going to be ruined before they even get the chance to wash them because all tags on pillows and blankets are REALLY cheaply made, so they are going to smudge off the instructions.
They are both kinda unreasonable, but I'd honestly be annoyed with the tags staying on too because they are uncomfortable.
The more reasonable option is to just store the tags somewhere so they can't get damaged so you can read them in better quality.

I always take the tags of everything... except for my plushies and keyrings, all of them have tags on them even when they're nearly falling apart from old age, i don't know why i dont take them off, but i just don't

… People rip those off? Like, I get it for some things, like, for throw pillows, half the time the tag will be super long and take up the size of the whole pillow and crinkle around. But that’s not really to bad. For everything else though I always keep them on. Those little tags are super helpful for cleaning instructions… Cause that’s why they’re there. This guy is being silly.
