Gentle pressure?! I had one and it felt like torture. It left several huge bruises all around my belly. It was so much pressure and pain that I could barely make out the words āstop.ā Frank breech, epidural failed, ECV failed, had a complication free c section days later. Itās so upsetting hearing doctors call this procedure āgentleā so pregnant women have no idea what theyāre actually signing up for. I would not have agreed to it had I known the truth.

Iām glad videos like this exist and people can comment. I had no clue how they moved breach babies and Iām glad I know from other women that is it something painful. Iām newly pregnant so having information ahead of time makes me feel more prepared and secure about things that can happen

I had this done twice with my little one. One at 36 weeks and then again at 37 weeks. It was in the Netherlands so there was no anesthesia but I didnāt feel it was needed. It was like feeling your organs being rearranged no joke, the most uncomfortable unsettling feeling but not pain (nothing like labor for example).
The second version was successful and my baby was born healthy on his due date at home (unassisted while the midwife was rushing on her way! Haha)
For me the key was staying relaxed even when the turning was happening which feels impossible but it helps. The doctor was also wonderful and very calming and reassuring. She had music playing and dim lighting and spoke in a kind soft tone. She even asked how she should address the baby (if for example by a name we had chosen)

Labor & delivery nurse here! Most of those versions turn into crash c-sections anyway šÆ I had a patient last year whoād undergone a āsuccessfulā version & was induced. The baby looked like complete crap on the monitor! We had to do EVERYTHING we could to resuscitate him in utero. Then at delivery it became obvious why. The doctor literally had to untangle him from the cordā¦that they wrapped him up in in the first place! A section wouldāve been MUCH safer!

I actually had this done three times to our 2nd son! He refused to turned and kicked himself back to breach position. He was 17 days over due. I fell and pumped my belly and was upset that my baby could've bern hurt. The doctor assured me the baby was fine but had me come in and they tried one more time to turn him head down. It worked! WOWWWW!!! WHAT a sensation it caused. A suction and a sound when he flipped down. It didn't hurt either one of us. 2 days later, he finally decided he wanted to come into the world. On Sunday night, at 9 lbs. 10 oz and 21 and a half inches. Naturally. He was my easiest delivery ā¤. Praise God! He's 47 now! ā¤š

With all do respect maāam, be a little more honest . Youāll do not apply gentle pressure. Doctors and nurses are practically DIGGING into your stomach to try to turn to baby over . Itās is PAINFUL. It takes a WHILE so while youāre having contractions youāre also being hovered by doctors and nurses who are literally digging their hands into your stomach .

Hey! I'm a nurse (for context) and i think where your intent is getting lost is the combination of 2 things:
1) not being truthful about the pain, which may take an extra second to explain and
2) following up point 1 with "i love getting to do this".
Because so many expectant mothers experience horrible pain during this procedure, while it helps them avoid invasive surgery and a longer recovery, it is PAINFUL. And that is being glossed over/ignored. As a woman, you should be advocating for women voicing their pain and how to help with it. I dont know if youve ever been ignored by the healthcare system, but it is predominantly women being ignored and expectant mothers watching this video in particular may think this is no big deal, and feel lied to when you come to turn the baby. Following it up with what you said sounds a little sadistic and though they were separate thoughts, they sounded like they belonged together. Communication with those who don't have the same education and who don't know what to expect are often caught off guard. Its a simple thing to say, "there are ways to help the pain that come along with this, but it is painful. However, itll help you avoid major abdominal surgery, a scar, infection risk, etc. ESPECIALLY because it doesn't always work.

Can you list the risks vs benefits?
