Short view of a P420 lift machine of a freight- and fireman's lift. The lift is part of a group of four lifts in an office building. The other three lifts are smaller passenger lifts. The group of four runs on Schindler Miconic TX-GC controllers. The lifts were originally built by Schlieren in the 1970s and then modernised by Schindler in the year 2000. They serve a total of 17 floors at a travel height of 58m. The freight lift has a 27kW machine and a Variodyn VF88BR drive and runs at 1.6m/s in 2:1 roping configuration with a capacity of 2000 kg. The passenger lifts not in the video run at 2m/s in 1:1 with a smaller VF44BR drive.

Similar machine like our Schindler 300 P (MR) in Asia Pacific.

I'm thinking a planetary xmission would lose less energy to heat than a worm gear loses. But I'm not a mechanical engineer, so could well be wrong.
