Was on the Harmony during Hurricane beryl. It was a direct hit on our itinerary, but the captain kept us clear from it, no rough seas or storms at all. We were still able to visit 2 out of the 3 ports.

20 foot waves and 50 mile an hour winds is not a category five storm.

I once was on a cruise where the ship rolled and pitched violently for three hours to the point that most people ended up in the exact middle of the cruise ship to fight seasickness.
It’s much safer to be in the ocean than port during a hurricane

Yes! We have literally sailed through 2 of them. We made it, Yes our Itinerary changed 3 times in 7 days. You should be fully aware when you book at the height of hurricane season.

Just got back home from this 6 day cruise, the captain was very competent and I never felt in danger. However I will say it absolutely sucked only going to Cozumel. All water activities in Cozumel were suspended due to the recent hurricane. I do really wish they had just cancelled the cruise, but again it never felt dangerous.

We sailed through the backside of the remnants of Hurricane Milton on the a Carnival Sunshine to Charleston. We had 30 ft seas and 38 knot winds. It was the 1st time I have ever been sea sick. lol

Yep. Worked on ships during Hurricane Hugo, and our caprain decided we were setting sail. Scary day.

I was on said cruise, I don't question the captain. I thoroughly enjoyed cruising just outside of Hurricane Milton. The sea turned pretty exciting there a couple of days. I honestly didn't mind missing the 2ports so much. RC treated us very fair, and hopefully we'll see the missed ports next year.

I highly doubt a corporation as big as royal Caribbean gave the captain the controls on that one. I'm sure he was told to do that lol.

20 foot swells? We had 35 foot going to Alaska out of San Francisco and it was another day at sea. Drake Passage was surprisingly smooth when we cross it and it was 20 to 30 feet. Take a Dramamine and go hang out in the pool, you’ll be fine

I was on the ship. Everything was fine. Sure it was rough. But was still on vacation and could care less .

I am questioning the sanity of the Captain and if profits were driving the decision. Skirting a hurricane edge and getting some waves, wing, and rain is one thing. Going directly into one of the strongest storms on Earth is crazy.

I was on Carnival Horizon when Helene amped up and our Captain left Jamaica, canceled Cozumel and Grand Cayman and took us to Amber Cove instead. It was a bummer as I was really excited for Grand Cayman but it kept us safe. Heading to Amber Cove was scary enough for me and my teens. The ship was rocking and you could hear the wind howling outside from inside our rooms. I couldn't imagine being steered into it.
