Canadian Real-estate Crisis Cult Members mantra:
House prices only increase in Canada. It is different in Canada. Houses actually pay for themselves in Canada because the price only increases. Anyone who has a different opinion than me is wrong. And, house prices only increase in Canada. Oh, I already said that.

Madness what's happening. I seen a single family dwelling converted into a multi Plex with a garden suite and now selling each unit from $599-$1.59. I'm not sure how this benefits the city's multiplex bylaw but that's ridiculous... This was in the Toronto Star of a residence in East York area đ

I keep watching Ontario housing markets for years. From my view, Canadian affordable properties are ones that have been paid off by tenants, practically shity looking, not energy efficient at all, away from dense infrastructure and obviously overpriced. In some UE countries and even Switzerland, rents are strictly regulated by governments so the average taxpayer doesnât really care about itâs price. Private housing corporations are big/rich and usually cover 70-80% of their own constructions. I wonder, how long it will take to kill this UK-Canadian nonsense that doesnât work at all.

Wife just told me someone she knows, their dead beat sister and husband just put up a new build they own for rent. This is in Calgary. Never lived in.
I suspect this is bank money to buy and rent. This tells me a few things. They borrowed against current home to accomplish this and that they probably have another new build with down payment happening too.
Saw this year's ago in Calgary with people I knew, owned 3 unbuilt homes, builder got them financed up and they sold when it was built, gaining some profit.
This ended poorly with them defaulting on all properties when market dropped for oil price recession and lots lost their jobs. They had no buyers for their "no fail, risk free investment".
