Leo is a three month old, mini goldendoodle. Today, he visited the vet to get vaccinated.

During the first four months of a puppy’s life, they typically receive a series of core vaccinations to protect against serious diseases. Here’s a general schedule for the most common vaccines:

Core Vaccine
1. 6–8 Weeks
• Distemper, Adenovirus (Hepatitis), Parvovirus, Parainfluenza (DA2PP/DHPP): This is a combination vaccine protecting against multiple diseases. It’s usually the first dose of a series
• Optional: Bordetella (Kennel Cough) if the puppy will be in contact with other dogs (e.g., boarding or daycare).

2. 10–12 Weeks:
• DA2PP/DHPP (2nd Dose): Boosters are essential to build immunity.
• Optional: Leptospirosis (in areas where it’s common) and Bordetella if not given earlier.

3. 14–16 Weeks:
• DA2PP/DHPP (Final Dose): Completes the puppy series for these core diseases.
• Rabies: Typically required by law and administered around this time (depending on local regulations).
• Optional: Lyme disease vaccine (if your area has a high prevalence of ticks).

Key Notes:
• Boosters: Core vaccines need boosters every 3–4 weeks until the puppy is at least 16 weeks old to ensure proper immunity.
• Consult Your Vet: Vaccination needs can vary depending on your puppy’s lifestyle, breed, and local disease prevalence.
