Flicking your revolver closed can cause MAJOR damage!

I know we all love the way the Dirty Harry cylinder roll and flick looks. What a lot of people don't know is that repeated cylinder flicks can damage and potentially cause the revolver to explode due to timing issues. This move is best to avoid if you want your revolver to serve you for years to come.

This firearm is a Smith and Wesson Model 69 5 shot revolver chambered in 44 magnum. Its stout but handles the recoil well. Please consider subscribing! Thanks for watching!

Revolvers are very complex internally. Delicate in some ways, so you do have to treat them right. Use them correctly and you won't have any problems.

I am A-Pawled you called the cylinder stop, aka ā€œthis little fingerā€ a pawl. The pawl rotates the cylinder. The cylinder lock does the locking function.

It would be cool if you could order a revolver that specially had a reinforced pall and crane so that you could flick it shut without potentially damaging it as much.

There are so many people in these comments saying "but muh 35k PSI" as if every single part of a gun is a pressure bearing component. Like, I'm no gunsmith, but everything that I've seen about firearms design includes the fact that only the chamber and other parts of the gun that actually have to handle firing pressures are built to handle firing pressures. Gun parts are only built to handle _the amount of force they would experience under normal operation_, so it seems pretty obvious to me that subjecting a small component like a locking piece to repeated lateral stress that's above what it's designed to handle would eventually degrade its function.

Guys also make sure not to fire your revolver either, as this can cause damage to the gun, another thing is you shouldn't touch it, as the oils on your skin could damage the gun. Don't let it get exposed to moisture in the air either, as this could damage your gun.

I mean, spinning it before hand is probably a terrible idea. But doing it gently can't be worse than closing it by hand. And pointing it down while you do it makes it smoother .

Why do people get so heated when you recommend them to treat their firearms right. It can kill you or a loved one if in not good condition

These days the tolerances of firearms has improved and flicking the cylinder on a newer revolver shouldnā€™t cause damage

I want people to stop cowyboying the action shut, not because I care about their guns, but because I hate it when people do it to my gun when I let them shoot it.

Make sure you keep your revolvers wrapped in bubble wrap, locked in a safe, in a bunker, 1 mile below the ground as to make sure you donā€™t damage it or get dust on it

Imagine a secret reload that the operator, after reloading the revolver presses the cylinder with their palm gently and pets it with its 2 fingers and then gives it a kiss.
