Dangle like Crosby with this mechanics stack!!

At Train 2.0 we call this mechanics stack the Crosby dangle by design. Because itā€™s a dangle... pre designed (pretty self explanatory)

The hardest part about this sequence once youā€™ve got the mechanics down is timing and reading the momentum of the defenders stick.

Your goal with the lead up is to get the defender to swing their stick. Once they do, you curl the puck through it and anchor to the outside.

THIS IS WHY IT'S IMPORTANT TO IDENTIFY THE FUNDAMENTAL MECHANICS!!

Because now that we are aware of the movements that the best NHLers use and have a common language to describe them, we can create mechanics stacks or patterns that directly translate to in game results!

And instead of explaining drills and patterns in abstract terms we can get very specific in exactly what it is we want to do, because we have a common language to do so.

Example:

BEFORE - Cut to your left then cut to your right while putting the puck through the defenders stick, then drive the net.

AFTER - Crossunder (crossover) to your right then anchor to your left using a curl, finish with an outside edge roll to the net.

Simple and effective communication!

Itā€™s also fun to think of hockey as just a sequence of movements stacked together like legos (at least I think so)

šŸ’ Comment what highlight reel goal (mechanic stack) you want broken down next!

Every era, makes the next era that much better....I truly and wholeheartedly believe if there wasn't a Crosby, there wouldn't have been a McDavid.....and ultimately no Bedard.... Crosby's edge work and skating was what skating coaches tried to achieve with Mc David's generation......McDavids speed and edge work while skating with the puck is what Bedards generation tried to achieve...Bedard took it to the next level and incorporated everything, but now with a lethal shot! My son is 8 years old, and I'm seeing just as many shooting clinics as skating clinics these days.
