TUNNEL VISION! The real enemy of beginner artists!
You get so focused on one smaller area of a drawing and lose track of the full piece. But how do you fix that??

I have a few things that I do to help that! Check out the full video to see what I mean.

Snapping a photo then looking through it is really helpful for me

The best tip is to just leave and do something else for a minute then come back, also standing further away from the piece while drawing

Seeing values accurately really improved my sketches and helped my realism a lot, great lesson.

This is actually me. I always focus on one area and I knew it but i didn't realise it for some reason. This helped thanx

I like to take a short (about 2-5 mins) break every 1-1,5 hours. I have a cup of tea or go to pee or just stretch a bit, cause constantly sitting in such an uncomfortable position can hurt after a while. When I come back to the drawing, I can look at it with a fresh eye

Stepping away for half an hour and then looking back at it works the best for me

The mirror trick 100% works!

This feels like a super condensed version of the artists' meme on "mirror-flip your drawing to see it go wonky". Yeah, I get that hyper-focusing on details can go awry if the general structure of the base drawing is already wonky to begin with.

I have a funny muscle memory thingy that sometimes makes me rage, always and I mean always when I do anything with zooming out (digitally) i spin te canvas not even thinking about it, and it really helps! Much easier to see mistakes

All you need to do is say it's finished and upload it to your social media, the mistakes will immediately jump out to you πŸ₯°

Hi Stan. Can you do a video on drawing nature like grasses, trees, rivers, beaches or clouds, mountains etc?

That would be a good series. Graphite or Charcoal only.
