there's one relationship that matters more than anything and anyone else.
it's a relationship you're in whether or not you realize it.
your relationship with yourself.
our entire lives, our selves are the only people or entities who actually fully understand what we're going through, what happens in day-to-day life, and everything in between.
often, we get so caught up in building or maintaining other relationships that we forget to nurture the one that matters most; the true day 1 - ourselves.
i hear so many of my friends talk about how they want to be with someone, how they're looking for someone to date - but the truth is, if you have a rocky relationship or some kind of dissonance between you and your respect for yourself, you're not ready to be in a stable relationship. you need to learn to treat yourself with kindness, to know what your standards are, and know what you expect of your behavior - and how others can treat you - before you even think about entering or committing to anything or anyone else.
full recipe in the comments. this is quick, emergency kimchi.

emergency kimchi
Ingredients:
- 1 small head of Napa cabbage
- 2-3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
- 2 tablespoons Korean red chili pepper flakes (gochugaru)
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon fish sauce (optional, for extra umami)
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
"emergency kimchi" recipe
Instructions:
1. Cut the Napa cabbage into bite-sized pieces. Rinse them thoroughly and drain the excess water.
2. In a mixing bowl, combine minced garlic, minced ginger, Korean red chili pepper flakes, soy sauce, fish sauce (if using), sugar, and salt. Mix well to form a paste.
3. Add the cabbage to the bowl and massage the paste into the cabbage leaves, ensuring they are evenly coated.
4. Transfer the kimchi into a clean, airtight container, pressing it down firmly to remove any air pockets.
5. Leave the container at room temperature for about 3-4 days to ferment, opening it once a day to release any built-up gas and press the kimchi down with a clean utensil.
6. After 3-4 days, taste the kimchi. If it has reached the desired level of fermentation, transfer it to the refrigerator to slow down the fermentation process. If not, continue fermenting for another day or two, tasting daily until it's to your liking.
Remember, this is a basic recipe meant for quick consumption. Don't judge that this isn't "real" kimchi. I whip this out when i'm short on time - it's what feeds the people.
