You’re generating good torque because you have your jabbing hand behind your power hand which essentially doesn’t make it a jab anymore.
For beginners, your jab (and it’s connected elbow and shoulder) NEVER moves backwards. So your jab-hand is situated closer to your opponent than your power-hand. And you generate power by twisting your knuckle into your target (this is called “turning the key”). You can also feel better pop by (it seems counterintuitive) but you pull your jab back as FAST as possible after connection.
