Damn, what an eloquent answer for such a nonsensical question. Of course if the tone or type of story is different from his past works then the “style” will differ. Not every director is a Wes Anderson type that feels the need to shoehorn every story into their signature “style”, as much as I love Wes, change is good, change is growth.

I heard Louis C.K once say that PTA might write beyond his own intellect(meant as a compliment) and I think that might be very accurate. He writes things bigger than even he understands or perhaps can articulate with words just listen to his interview with Marc Maron. His summaries for each of his films sounds like they're from a confused viewer rather than the filmmaker himself. Very fascinating
