My mom died of cancer and she didn't want me to cut my hair because she was going through chemo. She said that I had enough to do with trying to take care of her, my dad, my child and everything else.
This Mom is a manipulative person who wants everyone to feel sorry for her. I feel bad cancer sucks but that was uncalled for

"Using" cancer to manipulate your own child is sick as hell! This feels like the introduction of the depression years for this poor daughter π having your choice GUILTED out of your life??? Shows of support NEED to be authentic from the giver or else what was the point... this PISSES me off! I get that mom is going through a lot, and the sorts of thoughts people have in such circumstances are going to vary in selfishness and justification... but acting on them? When the blow is literally ON the shoulders of someone who loves you??? Boo... Dad is not a butthole. This whole family is hurting π

Just because you have cancer doesn't make it acceptable to manipulate you children amd loved ones into doing what you want. I agree mom was just jealous of her teenage daughter. Messed up.

How does one feel supported by others cutting their hair off too? I have never understood that, even when people do it to show support without being asked. If I had cancer, and chose to fight, and lost my hair but lived, I would have to mourn the loss of my hair. I wouldn't want healthy people to go bald around me, I'd rather they give me actual support not just to make a show of it...

I remember this story. It's so screwed up the mom asked that of the daughter. It's her hair. She can do what she wants with it. Just because the mom is losing her hair, doesn't mean she has the right to shave the daughters hair or manipulate her into getting it cut.
