Ironic.
The most valuable trophy of an exceptionally dangerous gladiator is something museums sell in giftshops for children to harmlessly annoy their parents with.

Same reason baseball players use those weight rings on their bats and do a bunch of practice swings when theyre on deck.

So the Roman army was Pinky and the Brain playing basketball? “If we practice basketball wearing wooden clogs, imagine how good we’ll be when we’re wearing sneakers.”

From what I have been told gladiators were very expensive humans so they were not killed as often as people think

Man, imagine telling a lady "yeah sometimes I like to play with my wooden sword. It makes me feel like Superman!"

I would point out that the doubled weight of the trainning equipment some roman soliders used might not be all that correct
While we do know some did that, it is written somewhere (i think at least....)

But some historians aren't sure was that as common. Because of the doubled weight soliders would maybe strike to hard, go out of balance. It would be harder to control because they are use to the weight, and its now gone all of a sudden.

If Im wrong, correct me :)

I made one for my sister. She wanted a Rudis and I had a walnut plank.

"I am free because I've got my rudies!"

I tried that line in a bar once but it didn't get me far.

When visiting Housestead Fort, many years ago, they had a Spanish made Copy of an actual Roman sword.
