I hope this brings peace and hope to you and anyone grieving the loss of a beloved pet. I had to put my 18 year old dog, Wally, to sleep because he was suffering. He was completely blind, deaf and had lost his sense of smell. He was also having painful seizures and arthritis. I took him to my Dad's old Veterinary clinic to be put down ; my Dad was retired by then. I was crying my eyes out and had my arms wŕapped around him as he lay on the metal exam table. The moment the Vet gave Wally the shot that stopped his heart, I both saw and felt him get up, walk through my arms, and sit down next to me on the table. It tingled where he walked through me, and he looked like a hologram - he was grayish, hazy and pixelated. He also appeared like he did when he was two ÿears old and healthy; he no longer looked old and frail. I was in shock and immediately stopped crying. I don’t remember if I told my Mom and the Vet what I just witnessed or if I asked them if they saw what I just did. However, based on their reactions, which consisted of them both simultaneously shooting each other quick concerned glances that read, "OMG! She's gone insane from grief!" It was obvious that they didn't see what I did. But I don't care. I know what I saw and felt. I also felt Wally sitting on my lap the entire drive home, and once there, he slowly faded into the other realm. I thank God for giving me this incredible and loving gift. I feel it is my duty to pass it on whenever I come in contact with someone who may be grieving the death of a pet. I grew up believing that animals have souls just like we do, but now I know they do.
